It is yet another blow for the Umtshezi community to lose its highly appreciated sons of the soil who laid the very foundation of our political wellbeing.
Mr Petrose Mthembeni Madlala (Wara) and Mr David Banda commonly known as (Motsoeneng) both sadly passed away during the holidays, due to illness.
In the length of time given working with these reliable and committed individuals, we seem to forget that they have their own personalities and things of benefit to them and their families.
Their contribution and willingness to work tirelessly for the community of Umtshezi as they participated in the first Transitional Local Council (TLC) previously known as Estcourt/Wembezi TLC.
They laid their lives down on the path where our young democracy could tread to each of the lives of many people of Umtshezi Municipality.
It was not an easy move for all of us to take such a decision and hold the spear for the betterment of people, especially in this part of the country.
They improved the adequacy of leadership oversight, so that leaders can create an environment that is conducive to good governance.
This includes decisive action to implement corrective measures to address the imbalances of the past.
This exercise gave recognition to all members of the community and formations i.e. political parties, religious groupings and dominions, societal groups, NGOs, intellectuals and academics.
The main duty was to ensure the public participation in the building of a non-racist, non-sexist and democratic society, in all spheres of government and communities.
They inspire young leaders to follow them as an essential part of the society, to co-ordinate the activities of the people and give their efforts towards the goals and objectives of the organisation.
They also taught us that leadership is a central feature of the organisation.
The leadership has vision and the ability to see the bigger picture, to take the long-term view and to inspire people.
Our condolences goes straight to their families, friends and relatives, your loss is our loss.
We would also like to use this opportunity to thank you for lending of these heroes, they prove themselves as true patrons of the revolution of the people.
We congratulate the class of 2013 for their overwhelming pass rate since 1994.
We thank the students, their teachers and parents who make this commemoration a success.
We hope you will do more for the class of 2014.
