Sir,
So in Endumeni you can happily assault one of the two (acting) Municipal Managers in public without fear of reprisals.
In Endumeni you can steal computers from the municipality, fire-bomb an office and, most recently, break open the Speaker’s door to leave behind insulting notes.
In Endumeni you can steal electricity with impunity. In Endumeni you can probably get a contract to, say, fix a road, even if you bury people.
In Endumeni the by-laws are just that – they go by. You can put portable toilets in parks, hunt with dogs and make a huge noise way into the night.
Endumeni is also a free-littering zone – a trip to opposite the taxi rank (outside a furniture shop and fast-food chicken franchise) will confirm that.
In Endumeni you can do exactly what you want – but only if you have the right political connections.
Sad indeed. I guess it’s called freedom.
Brian
