No jobs for matrics?

It’s no wonder crime is on the rapid rise in this country

Editor – Firstly, a big congratulations to all those pupils who passed their matric exams. But what is a matric worth nowadays?
The grading system itself shows that it is not worth much. The top pupils pass with “admission to a Bachelors degree” and “admission to a Diploma”. This highlights the need for youngsters to study further in order to get a well-paying job. But what about those pupils who didn’t achieve a pass that allows them to study further? And what about those who cannot afford tertiary education?
We can’t all become president with only a Grade 7. What hope is there for these young people to even find a job, whether it pays well or not? There is such a shortage of employment that the hope of employment is decreasing all the time. It’s no wonder crime is on the rapid rise in this country!
