See you at the Dog-A-Thon

The Dog-A-Thon will be taking place on Saturday at Egerton's Agar Field at 3pm

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) would like to remind everyone that the Dog-A-Thon will be taking place on Saturday.
The Dog-A-Thon will be held at Egerton’s Agar Field. Registration starts at 2.30pm and the walk will start at 3pm. The entrance fee is R30 a dog and the walk will be 2.5km. All proceeds raised will go towards the upkeep of the kennels. This includes housing and feeding abused and abandoned animals, while we try to find them new homes.

There are many dogs at the kennels who are looking for good homes. There are two Boerboel cross puppies who need to find families to love them. There is a six-month-old female Jack Russell named ‘Katie’ who would love to curl up with you and keep you warm at night.  Her previous family dumped her at the kennels and she just wants someone to love her for the adorable puppy she is.

There have been many reports of missing pets – including ‘Perdy’, a spayed tri-coloured female cat from Berea Road, and ‘Angus’, a three-year-old Scottish Terrier who went missing from Ruby Gailey Drive. ‘Shadow’ is a six-month-old black cat who has gone missing from Oswald Rapson Road in the Egerton area. A male ginger cat has gone missing from Jan Smuts Avenue, and ‘Stompie’ is a male tabby cat who was lost in Modelkloof. ‘Zorba’ is a brown male Weimaraner who went missing from his home in Colenso and ‘Quish’ is a white neutered male cat who went missing from Ingula. If you have any information on the whereabouts of any of these animals, please contact the AACL.

The league is always looking for donations and is desperate for a new stationery cabinet. Winter is almost here and the pets at the kennels need blankets to keep warm at night. The weather has been particularly nippy and even though the animals have fur, this is not enough to keep them warm, especially the smaller animals. Please think about them this winter and bring blankets to the kennels to keep our furry friends all snuggled up this winter. The animals also need food, and the league is appealing to the public for dry and wet cat and dog food. Please find it in your heart to help.

If you can help with either a stationery cabinet, blankets or food, contact the kennels on 076-151-1784. See you at the Dog-A-Thon!
