Sir,
We the concerned residents of Sibongile are very angry regarding the humiliation that is taking place at the Dundee Provincial Hospital. Local doctors who are assigned to work at this hospital have suffered through victimisation by senior management.
We as residents have noticed this problem for quite some time. A good local doctor, Mr Ngidi, left the hospital for Gauteng. He left as a result of being harassed by the very same management of the hospital. Another local doctor, Dr Kunene, who was very good to patients, has also withdrawn his services from the hospital. Dr Kunene is now running his own private practice.
Recently we were told that Dr Qwabe would be facing a hearing. We believe that Dr Qwabe is also a victim of the management. As a concerned community we intend to take this matter further, at the highest level.
We as the concerned residents of Sibongile are aware that the Dundee hospital has a shortage of doctors – this is shocking and against the Constitution of our country. We would like the hospital board to come on board regarding these issues which involve all of our lives. As a small town we cannot afford to lose our local doctors in this way. Sibongile residents
Response from Mr S Khan, Hospital CEO: “These are indeed unfounded allegations. This issue, because of its sensitive nature cannot and will not be discussed through the medium of your paper.”
