I totally agree with last week’s resident about the awful state that our town is slipping into (Estcourt News, June 27, page 6).
There are indeed a number of service delivery challenges that seem to be cropping up faster than they can be addressed.
And when service delivery fails, a host of other problems creep up.
For example in some areas the streetlights have not been working for months, this is a safe haven for criminals who operate under the cloak of darkness.
So too in residential areas where the grass is overgrown, criminals use these areas as a great hiding place. The huge potholes in some streets could cause nasty accidents. By ignoring or dragging their feet sorting out these problems, the municipality is placing the lives of the residents at risk.
It’s time they started working more and talking less.
