Constructive criticism for committee

Madam – I have recently exhibited at the Ladysmith Show and was previously associated as an exhibitor at the Newcastle Winter Festival.

I was approached by members of the Ladysmith Show Society to exhibit at the annual Ladysmith Show. I was hesitant at first, but constant persuasion by Dianne Mackintosh and Tanya Muller, it became hard to refuse.

It was nice to take the opportunity and have come home with a very warm experience of the Ladysmith Show

It was an absolute pleasure to have experienced what that town has to offer. The committee was extremely welcoming from the minute I got there. What I found most rewarding was that the official opening took place on the Friday morning before the gates were open to the public and ALL exhibitors were invited to attend at the main arena and were welcomed in participating in the event.

The committee displayed great care to all its exhibitors throughout the entire event. The exhibitors were also awarded with trophies and certificates, which further motivated us.

It was not once, but approximately three to four times per day no fewer than three members of the committee, as well as the president of the committee, came to our stands to check that everything was OK and if there was anything that was needed.

The quality of the exhibits made us feel proud of what they had to offer, and the general layout of the arena and main hall, as well as the entertainment that was provided, was really something that I feel needs to be commended.

I would just like to give the members of the Ladysmith Show Society a big thumbs up for the work and effort they put into the weekend’s festivities. It really was a wonderful realisation when I was also told that no-one on the committee was rewarded financially or in any other way.

It is wonderful to know that there are still people out there who do things for the upliftment of the community. I applaud you all once again.

I also want to applaud the Mayor, Afzul Rehman, on all of his accomplishments, and the dedication he has shown to the betterment of our town. There have been great changes in and around Newcastle, Madadeni, oSizweni and surrounds.
