Concerns fall on deaf ears

Even writing a letter to the Municipal Manager herself does not get much attention; neither does complaining to a ward councillor

Please allow me to comment on the letter in last week’s edition, Heart bleeds for former glory, page 6. The writer has spoken out about what many, many residents feel, thank you for voicing this. What concerns me is that our complaints and concerns never seem to be heard by the powers that be.

If they are not prepared to get off their butts and go around town and see for themselves the terrible condition our town is in, then not much will be done. Even writing a letter to the Municipal Manager herself does not get much attention; neither does complaining to a ward councillor. It seems to me that they are comfortable in their positions and don’t care what is happening on the ground, forgetting that the people on the ground pay their salaries.
My heart also bleeds for our town to be returned to its former glory.

Are a clean environment, enforcing by-laws and maintaining infrastructure too much to ask for? After all our town is a small one and this is possible.
