Trips to the library have become absolutely ‘dreadful’

The conditions in our Estcourt Town Library are remarkably pathetic

Editor
Walking into the library before used to be a moment I cherished as a child. Now, it’s a dreadful trip at which I hurriedly select my books and leave. The conditions in our Estcourt Town Library are remarkably pathetic.

You could easily find people relaxing on the floor in the aisles and next to the shelves. They have no regard for hygiene as you find people eating and leaving their mess behind. The library is a place to allow your mind to be at peace and to gain knowledge.

Now, it’s become a chilling place for lunch and lovers. I’d like to call out the people at the town library and request for these conditions to be changed and uplifted.

The concern about the libraries is acknowledged. We have massive pressure, as this is peak year-end rush for all that are writing examinations. We are in the process of introducing new policies for the entry and time control for people utilising the library. We are also finalising the revamping of the air conditioning for the facility.
The new controls are to reap a positive outlook, provided that the patrons abide by the proposed controls.
