Ruined roads are aiding accidents

Look at the roads, they must fix the potholes before wasting our rates and tax money to buy new vehicles

I wholeheartedly support SB Downing’s letter dated January 16 ‘Old and tired Estcourt’. What do councillors, the Mayor and Municipal Manager have to say about this? Look at the roads, they must fix the potholes before wasting our rates and tax money to buy new vehicles.

Soon these vehicles will end up as scraps if those roads are not repaired. See page 2 of last week’s Estcourt News, a portion of the road in Fifth Avenue cracked open. How much money was spent tarring this road and not even a year later, the road is wrecked, it is a waste of ratepayer’s money.

I have written a letter to the Estcourt News and the Umtshezi Municipal Manager complaining about this road.
I requested speed humps and curbs. It won’t be long until accidents happen here. There have been accidents, a driver knocked a gate in this area and it has not been repaired yet. School is opening and I request the Mayor and councillors to park here and see how fast parents drive. Traffic cops are needed.
