Madam – It was with heartache that I read the front page of the Newcastle Advertiser.
What has happened to society that animals are left out in the cold, abandoned by the very people meant to care for them?
I feel that we as people need to focus on caring for abandoned animals in any way possible. I am not saying we need to rush out and take in every animal we see, but maybe if we see a stray, instead of driving past we could contact the pound or the SPCA. If we see an injured animal alongside the road, try stopping and helping it.
Maybe we could take better care of our animals, instead of leaving them unattended and hoping they won’t stray or get ill.
Maybe, we can think of their needs first and learn how to show compassion to our furry friends.
If we could learn to care for animals, the same way they are able to care for us, maybe we can start making the world a better place.
