Madam – The cost of living has increased drastically since 2010.

When the petrol price goes up, the cost of food goes up. The petrol price decreases, the cost of food stays the same.

In September/ October 2010 a litre of petrol cost R8.02, in 2015 it is over R12.

A loaf of white bread was R7, now we pay +- R9/10.

A litre of milk was R9, today it’s R12.

We can’t keep up anymore. Life is becoming more expensive by the day, and more and more people become impoverished.

“It’s amazing how we pay the same percentage of tax for a loaf of bread and a bottle of wine. People who are suffering economically are getting ripped off by the same people they voted for. Why do we pay the same amount of tax for basic and luxury items?” -Anonymous.

Non-food items such as airtime and transportation are also becoming too expensive.

The cost of living is getting out of hand.

What can we possibly do to change the situation?
