Fracking affects everyone

Let us not be ignorant about this process, which will be promoted as a job provider

Regarding the application by Rhino Oil and Gas Exploration, and the community meetings, which as being held around the KZN Midlands, let us remember that it us not only the farmers who should be opposing these explorations as they will be on their properties, but all of us who live here.

Let us not be ignorant about this process, which will be promoted as a job provider. The jobs are highly technical and require tremendous expertise, which will not suit the majority of the residents in the area where they are proposing fracking.

It also uses millions of litres of water and chemicals to fracture the layers beneath the ground. Can we afford to lose that much water given the current conditions?

A book written by Alex Prud’homme is available at the Forderville Library. It is entitled ‘Hydrofracking: what everyone needs to know’.
In it the author examines the process of fracking from the various standpoints.

Let us arm ourselves with information at our disposal and take a stand against an issue, which is highly contentious at this particular time.
