TECH: Movie forecast for 2016

We’re already a week or so into another brand new year.

Although there hasn’t been enough time to gauge 2016, movie lovers and fellow tech geeks can look forward to an awesome year.

Here’s our pick of the best films coming our way:

Deadpool

The ‘Merc with a Mouth’ makes his big screen debut, in a film anticipated to break box office records and the fourth wall. Fully aware of his comic-book status, expect a very punny showing.

X-Men: Apocalypse

The iconic Marvel mutant team are pitted against an ancient mutant, in this final film of the young X-Men series. To be released at the end of May, this movie should bridge between the two trilogies.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Superhero meets superhero in this epic DC Comics production. Can Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent overcome their differences, to halt Lex Luthor and Doomsday?

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Many decades before the events of the Harry Potter series, the companion book by J.K. Rowling comes to life on the big screen. Newt Scamander embarks on the adventure to uncover the awesome magical beasts of the Harry Potter universe.

Captain America: Civil War

Allies versus Axis, David vs Goliath, Iron Man vs Captain America… A rift forms between Avengers members, when the controversial Superhero Registration Act is passed by the U.S. Government.

Suicide Squad

The third instalment in DC Comics’ Extended Universe introduces the anti-hero team including Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Boomerang, and the new Joker, portrayed by Jared Leto.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows

The second film of the rebooted classic series pits the TNMT against the Foot Clan and the Shredder, who has created mutants to threaten the Big Apple. Krang is rumoured to be making a cameo appearance.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant

Although named after the final book in the series by Veronica Roth, this is the first of two films depicting the events of Allegiant. The final film has been titled Ascendant, to release in 2017.

Warcraft

An acclaimed game series in its own right, the Warcraft movie follows the clashes between human and orc on the planet of Azeroth.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies

Meshing classic and modern, the film is an adaptation of the novel of the same name. With England ravaged by an eerie plague, the celebrated characters of Jane Austen must unite against the zombie scourge and discover true love.

Doctor Strange

Delving into the world of magic and mystery, Marvel Studio anticipates release in November. The film concerns Stephen Strange, who uncovers a new level of existence after a car collision.

Gambit

We’re ending the list with one fans might not respond well to. Channing Tatum as the slick, Cajun, staff-wielding, card-throwing mutant? We’ll reserve judgement for now.
