Madam – In response to the sport enthusiast who was lamenting the fact that today’s youth seem to be not actively participating in sport.

As the reader correctly pointed out, according to what your publication shows, it seems only the elderly are into sports. As I write this, there are 100 or so young men who are at Fairleigh Sport Grounds playing soccer, which is in fact a weekly event everywhere in Majuba in the Ballengeich, Dannhauser, Mdakane, oSizweni and Madadeni areas.

The fact is that more youth are into sport although the number can still improve.

Your publication understandably is only able to cover sport at semi pro-level but they can’t cover the amateur level sport which is of a larger scale than the semi pro and pro-levels. In closing, I agree that on paper it looks like the youth are not into sport.

Thank you.
