Madam – We, the public expect good service delivery and this is what we receive!
Complaints can’t be passed on and be dealt with. So what is the use of this department? This department can’t simply be reached. You simply can’t get through when phoning.
According to resources, the land lines have been out of order for a long time. Sometimes you can reach employees but then all of a sudden it is impossible.
This is reflecting negatively on the Newcastle Municipality in whole. Managers don’t answer their phones when contacted with complaints. This is nothing else than bad service delivery. Who is in control of this matter, that nothing is being done?
But again this is the service we receive from Newcastle Municipality and that is why service delivery is falling through the cracks. Tension must be towards the managers and directors who run this department.
Move these employees to a building where landlines are working and see if the service delivery will pick up or will it remain the same?

Response from Director for Information Technology, Ms Nto Vinkhumbo:
The Newcastle Municipality acknowledges that there are sites that have telephone system issues, some of these issues include the rampant theft of Telkom lines. We have so far engaged Telkom and are working on a solution that will ensure our telephone services are online at all times.
The municipality is also working on implementing a new centralised telephone system that will assist in ensuring that we not only reduce telephone cost but have a redundancy in place for especially those critical services such as Fire Services.
Apologies for any inconvenience during this transition phase, but we aim to ensure that all the technical issues identified in this letter and those we are already aware of are addressed in a timeous manner.
