“I don’t want to be on the roads anymore”

Think when you drive, please, before it's too late.

Madam – I feel it’s important to note that the level of driving in this town has deteriorated to such a bad level, I don’t even want to be on the roads anymore!

Red traffic lights have become a sign to keep going. Drivers don’t know how to switch on their indicators. Speeding has become so normal in residential areas that it’s a wonder there aren’t more road deaths.

It’s so frustrating because road rage is now to be expected as we get more and more impatient and unaccepting with those who break the rules of the road.

Just this week I witnessed someone pulling out into traffic and hitting the car behind, as well as some inconsiderate a** just cruising through all the red robots, despite oncoming traffic. These people clearly don’t give a damn about the lives of others as they rush to their destinations.

And taxi drivers are not the only guilty parties! I have seen prominent members of the community (businessmen and women), members of council, police officers and even traffic officials breaking the law.

They never stop at stop streets, and when you actually have the temerity to point it out, they give you the finger and speed off.

I fear for my life and the lives of my family members. At this stage, I doubt even the intervention of traffic officials would make a difference.

If you are reading this and are guilty of any of the above, I hope you never have to go through the heartache of losing someone you love because of inconsiderate, selfish morons like you.

Think when you drive, please, before it’s too late.
