Editor – I have patience with learner drivers, but I do not have patience with people who simply put on their hazards in the middle of Murchison Street and stop dead.
On Sunday morning, close to 11am, I was driving up Murchison Street on my way to the Oval Shopping Centre.
I had just changed lanes and noticed that there was a double-cab in front of me with GP registration plates. Not giving this much thought, I carried on.
Then the double-cab stops in front of Porto Fish & Chips and the driver puts on his hazard lights. The driver literally put the brake to the floor and suddenly stopped in front of me, placing myself and the two children in the car with me in danger.
I started hooting and the driver’s female companion calmly got out and went into Porto’s to place an order.
The driver just sits there in front of me, waving me to go around.
Upset, I reversed and drove around him. There was parking available – all he and his companion would have had to do was walk a few more metres to get to the shop.
This man’s reckless driving could have caused me or my children to get injured. He should always drive with his hazards on, as he is a hazard to everyone around him.
