Homeowner says: ‘I have had enough’

I refuse to continue living like a prisoner within my own premises

I am the home owner of 129 Alfred Street and I want to express my anger and disappointment with the service I have recently received. Unfortunately for me and my family our home is situated near the bottle store.

This means that I have loud drunk men in front of my yard in large numbers, around the clock. I am sick and tired of having to put up with this. I have had enough.

These men have assaulted my children in the past, when they approach them to remove their vehicles from the drive way. My drive way is not a public parking lot; or a camping site; it is also not a toilet nor is it a disco.

I refuse to continue living like a prisoner within my own premises. Last week I called the emergency service centre and got no response. Due to it being a public holiday the situation in front of my yard was horrific.

Hopeless, I contacted the local police station and that too was a dead end until I managed to get hold of the Station Commander who responded within seconds. A big thank you for such a speedy response I really appreciate it, the crowd of drunks was dispersed.

The next day and for the days to follow, it will continue. I am appealing the owner of the bottle store to perhaps urge his customers to use the toilets and the area set aside for them to drink and look at closing a lot earlier than 2am in the morning.

I can’t leave or enter my own property. I can no longer get any visitors because they are either too afraid or get threatened, even my children have moved away.
