Vote and have a voice

Nothing irks me more than people complaining about the state of South Africa and than hearing that they don't vote

Madam – Nothing irks me more than people complaining about the state of South Africa and than hearing that they don’t vote.

I am sure everybody knows of at least 10 people like this, the whiners who always have issues and then claim there is no use in voting as nothing will ever change. Let me

tell you something, non-voters, if you do not vote nothing can and will change.

As the Local Municipality Elections are set to take place on August 3, it is imperative to cast your vote. Voting might be tedious, but you as a South African have the right to choose the political party that you feel comfortable with.

The municipal elections are held every five years, where councillors are elected to to be responsible for your specific municipality for the next five years. The

councillors will serve on the town, city or district councils that ensure services that impact the daily lives of citizens in their areas, including water, electricity and sanitation, are met with efficiently.

Through casting your vote, you can ensure that your local councillor is someone who can be held accountable for their actions and is someone you might know or trust.

So, be sure to take part in the upcoming elections and choose wisely, for yourself and your neighbours.

A proud voter
