Help… Estcourt is a dying town

My recent visit to my relatives in Estcourt was shocking and disgusting

I am a former resident of the once proud and beautiful Estcourt. My recent visit to my relatives in Estcourt was shocking and disgusting.

Sadly, I have nothing positive and good to say. Nobody will do anything. I am reliably informed that the council is led by the African National Congress.

What have you done to a once beautiful town? Where has all the ratepayers money gone? I had a look at the former mayor’s house and can only speculate what is happening in the town.

My relatives live in close proximity to the tavern in Forderville near the Forderville pool. The tavern closed around midnight. Drunken youngsters played music loudly until 4am in the morning.

We have children and senior citizens in our home and sleep that night was a luxury. My children were traumatised. My elderly grandparents, who have only days left to live, just shake their head in despair, helpless that at their age even one night sleep is not possible.

I ask the tavern owner: “Sir, do you know what is happening at your tavern. Do you know how many people are affected by the noise, gunshots, screeching of tyres, speeding and fights at the tavern while you and your family sleep peacefully, do you care about other people?”

We damaged our vehicle negotiating the many potholes in Dahlia Road. Please await a lawsuit coming your way soon.

The town, long grass, litter and filth is a disgrace. I read the Estcourt News and saw many vacancies. I am positive nepotism, party politics and money changing hands will determine who gets the jobs.

How will you pay these new employees, when you do not have money to cut the grass?
