Don’t discredit Estcourt police

Our local detectives work very hard and do not go around putting all their hard work on Facebook and the newspapers

In response to the letter ‘Get together to fight criminals in town’, I would like to clarify a few things.

READ THE LETTER HERE: Get together to fight criminals in town

Firstly, Mr 60-year-old, the Estcourt detectives do not issue traffic fines, they are much too busy with more serious matters, I have a very close interaction with the local police. I therefore, would not allow anyone, be it a 20-year-old or 60-year-old, to write such nonsense in the paper about our local police.

You have mentioned about police/detectives not getting back to victims and not doing patrols. What you have not mentioned are facts to support your allegations. You mentioned other towns, but all that is just hearsay. You seem to go on and on without any facts. Are you bored? You say that detectives have not worked since 1970, really now?!

You mentioned that a detective arrived on the scene of a murder in Canna Avenue in 2011, like an FBI agent and didn’t collect the evidence. How do you know that? Our police are not that stupid to leave all the evidence at a murder scene and go away, especially if they came there just for that. You should get all your facts straight before putting pen to paper.

I really want to see if the private investigations into the murder came up with an arrest because from what I gather, our detectives are of a high quality and if they cannot arrest anyone, there must be something in their way.

About the braais and year-end functions, don’t be so jealous. You mentioned that a well-known detective who moved to Newcastle remarked on social media that Estcourt detectives are complacent and if you are looking for them they can be found at Wagendrift Dam or the local supermarket.

From my understanding, he is not allowed to make any remarks concerning police activities or any other case on social media.
He is going against police protocol.

Our local detectives work very hard and do not go around putting all their hard work on Facebook and the newspapers.

I would like to know from the police spokesperson Warrant Officer Khan who gave that detective permission to put lies about these Estcourt detectives? Please stop being so negative and writing such lies in the newspaper.

I just wonder how one policeman can degrade another, especially on social media? I want to express my humble thanks and appreciation to our local police for a job well done. We, the public of Estcourt, salute you. May God bless you and your families.

Grateful 30-year-old Resident
