Sir
I think we have all followed with intense interest and disbelief the looting of VBS Bank out of R1,8 billion by politicians and the politically connected. Well done to the investigators who exposed this theft.
The investigators should turn their attention to local government. If they go back say 20 years, they will find that the plundering that has taken place in all local government councils would far exceed VBS Bank’s theft.
With manipulated tenders going to politicians, municipal officials and the politically connected it is safe to say that the theft could be almost R10-billion. Imagine how many roads could be fixed? Clinics built? The infrastructure of all towns improved?
But no, the priority is to loot with disregard to residents. Every five years chicken packs and T-shirts are handed out to ensure the election fodder vote for the right people to ensure the looting continues.
Every Council says we will be better than the last, and they are. Better at looting. Look at Endumeni: rates for businesses have tripled over the past year. Many businesses cannot afford to pay. Promises to investigate fall on deaf ears.
In Glencoe electricity bills have doubled and more. R600 to R1300 at a residential property I know well. But no one cares. It is so sad that democracy has lead us down a path of destruction.
Boycott Them
