It’s time to take responsibility and clean-up Estcourt

Mr Manda, it's time! You need to get your house (office) in order

To the relevant departments within our local Estcourt municipality

I am requesting a reply by you, in the next newspaper. I want you to publish the names of ALL the departments, with the names and telephone numbers of the ones in charge.

This town is anything but a desirable sight. Taking a walk up to the municipality, to pay our accounts was disgusting. You enter the round building and you enter a rubbish dump.

No staff to initially assist their customers because they are in a meeting. You call out to the woman sitting and chatting in an office, she approaches and tells you it’s not her department, she is in the budget department. What a joke! What budget?

Then you have the security guard lying around on that fixed chair, maybe you should bolt it down and make it a permanent fixture.

This is a public space, many people enter this building. Filth, dust, blinds that are collapsing. The weed infested entrance alongside the green palisade fencing. You people have no pride in your town or your work place. Now we enter another topic of which I was asked which DEPARTMENT am I referring to when I send pictures and explain the problem to the GUTTERS and PAVEMENTS staff member, you know who you are.

The ORANGE DRESSED staff members that walk up and down our pavements with empty black bin bags tied to their hips. Can you please explain to the public exactly which department do they belong to and what are their duties because I don’t see them working?

Mr Manda, it’s time! You need to get your house (office) in order. The RATEPAYERS are paying a fortune for NO SERVICE DELIVERY.

Our limited funds are going into the pockets of these lazy, non-deserving people. The gutters are overgrown with weeds and grass. I have pointed out drains covered in sand, what the hell for? You are all just lax.
Pavements and verges are neglected.

Trees need attention. What happened with the scheduled dates to cut grass and trees? Probably implements are broken, stolen for scrap metal or taken home.

Now we enter another department, REFUSE. It was reported, via this media, that trucks are repaired and collection is up and running. Are you blind? What clean-up is being done? This town is in a mess.

It is really so easy to clean this town. You are over staffed as it is, so spread your staff wisely and let them clean their sections.

Get the bins up onto the pavements. They are in the gutters (Connor Street next to SUPA QUICK).
Get the gutters cleaned up. Repair fallen bridges because the gutters are there for a purpose…rain water needs a clear throughway. VICTORIA Street gutter from Nestle to the 123 steps needs to be cleared on both sides. CONNOR Street gutters on both sides. The entire ALBERT Street both sides need clearing. When the rains come, these are the sections that get flooded.

As for the water and sewerage leaks, it has taken me well over 15 years to solve the water running along the storm water drain and into the gutter in Albert Street passed George Memorial Hospital and further down. I always suspected it was coming from Tall Tree and Supa Quick.

I even had a walk about with everyone and had a water test. No one dealt with it and came back with results. Finally, at a meeting at the town hall, the Mayor of Uthukela asked Sipho to deal with it. He came, took a water sample and we walked. We found a pipe leading over into the storm water drain behind Supa Quick. Later that morning a pipe was found to be dripping 24/7 but it didn’t make up for the volume of water coming down.

NOW SEE: Don’t care attitude evident in Estcourt streets

Then on inspection, we walked further up and saw that Tall Tree is letting water out into the storm water drain. I have been promised that plumbers will be asked to deal with this issue. Monitoring it is not a solution. We know the source, so deal with it! There is a leak right outside the library, does NO ONE SEE IT?

I know, elections hence this no work attitude. Well, you just may be pleasantly surprised with no job hence no easy money into your pockets. Mr MANDA clean our town by clearing out all those that aren’t deserving to OUR money.
NO SERVICE DELIVERY, NO RATES.
