Sir
A couple of weeks ago a reader wrote about the pathetic none application of the by-laws. I can attest to this.
Dundee has become an alcohol soaked town where there is no law and order at all. Police vans do not patrol after hours – either there are no vans or they just can’t be bothered.
Residents who pay exorbitant rates to this mickey mouse municipality have put up with loud parties in the parks – Coronation Park this long weekend was Sodom and Gomorrah personified and just after the last drunken soul has wheelspun himself out of the park, you get groups of young people walking down the street – yelling and shouting at 3am.
You dare not intervene as you will be called racist and the police will obviously be changing shifts, looking for their stolen vans or doing something equally clueless.
The only thing to do would be for those hard working residents to band together to form self-protection groups and conduct nightly patrols.
The groups could be lightly armed with pepper spray and truncheons. Drunken parties could quickly be disbanded in this way – by the time the police have found the park, the problem should be sorted.
This sounds radical but what can be done when those who should be protecting us do not. People urinate, mate and drink in public. The place is a chronic tip.
