From the Moths, Mothwas and Siegetown Club, we wish you all a prosperous new year.
The year has started well with a successful Platrand Parade, with an almost full turn-out by Moths, Mothwas and friends of the Moths. After the parade at Platrand, which was hosted by Platberg Shellhole (Harrismith), the whole entourage ventured down to our Shellhole for some well-deserved snacks and refreshments.
A big thanks to the Mothwas for providing the delicious sandwiches.
With the club being relatively quiet over the festive season, it is all systems go for the new year.
The Friday-night weekly draw was a roll-over and is fast approaching a tidy sum, so get on down to the Shellhole on Friday and stake your claim.
Saturdays and Sundays are also hotting up, with lots of cricket and football on the big screen.
The Super Rugby teams are all in training for February, so get your seats booked for all the exciting games coming on the big screen.
Our next parade is on Sunday, January 20, to commemorate the Battle of Rorke’s Drift.
This year, the parade will be held at the battle site and not at Talana Museum, as was held the previous year.
The locals have apparently sorted out their grievances with the local municipality, so it is free-flow to the event. Come on, fellow Moths, let’s show our support for this parade and get our numbers there so we can bring back a trophy or two from the district meeting held after the parade.
The Tiny’s Trips Bowls Tournament will be held in May, so let’s get to work on getting in sponsorship and prizes for this fun event.
We will also be entering teams in the Business League bowls, so if you’re interested, give your names to the Old Bill or club chairman.
The hall and bosbar are available to hire at nominal rates, so if you are interested, please contact Jenny on 0606577318
