Highlanders knuckle down for season games
Friendly games will feature Jaguars, Zululand and more.
Bethlehem, Durban and Zululand are only a few of the confirmed friendlies for Newcastle Highlanders this season.
The team faces Bethlehem Old Scholars at home in February, Jaguars Durban away on March 1, tours to Zululand in mid-March, competes at the eighth Piet Retief Rugby Day the same month, and faces JBM Hertzog UOVS at home.
In preparation for this onslaught of matches, team training kicked off on Monday evening.
Current and prospective players have literally worked themselves into the ground, and will continue to do so until the official Highlanders trials on February 19, from 6pm at the Arbor Park grounds.
On the administration side of things, coaches are keeping themselves atop their game.
Andre Swanepoel, Fanie du Plessis, Jan Combrink and Jannie Kleinhans have booked their attendance at a coaching conference hosted by none other than new Sharks coach, Jake White.
