Season bowling lined up

Many competitions have already been scheduled for the next few months.

Burnt End

Happy new year to all – may 2014 bring lots of good bowling, many drawn shots, no wrong biases and lots of good fellowship on the greens.

The competitive bowling season gets under way soon, with the KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls (KZNCB) singles and senior singles play-offs on January 18 and 19, hosted by Volksrust Bowling Club.

Following this will be the KZNCB Masters Singles competition at Newcastle on January 25 and 26.

All members of Newcastle BC are requested to assist with marking on that weekend, and to place their names on the list on the board at the clubhouse.

In February, the KZN Quadrangular tournament, a contest between Port Natal, Natal Inland, Kingfishers and KZNCB, will take place in Pietermaritzburg.

The Northern’s Zone mixed pairs will follow on February 15 and 16, and the club mixed pairs the next week.

Social bowls will continue on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings, which visitors and prospective players are most welcome to attend.

Coaching can be arranged for those seeking assistance.
