Burnt End
The 2014 South African Inter Districts Bowling Championships played throughout the country last week saw the KZN Country Bowls teams acquitting themselves well.
In the Open Tournament played in Bloemfontein, the men’s team was in contention for a medal right up to the last game and narrowly lost to Boland, the eventual gold winners who shared the title with Johannesburg BA after the final was washed out after a thunderstorm. After a slow start, the ladies team recovered to finish fifth in their section.
The teams playing in the “B” tournament in East London also did very well; the men’s team finishing a creditable fourth in their section and the ladies also a well earned fifth.
The senior teams played in wet conditions in Pretoria; the men’s and ladies’ teams finishing in sixth and seventh position
respectively.
