MTB Series rocks into second stage
On March 29, cycling enthusiasts will again vie for the series crowns.
The second stage of the Vulintaba Mountain Bike Series will take place this weekend (March 29).
Vulintaba Country Estate has extended an invitation to residents to join in for a fun-filled family day.
The event starting times, across the three distances, have been set apart to give family members the opportunity to ride with younger or less experienced cyclists.
Organisers promise something for everyone throughout the series.
The 40 kilometre route has been slightly altered to be both challenging and simultaneously easier, while the 20km race has been retained to offer great value for novices and amateurs.
It has thus been billed an opportunity to try out mountain biking as a new sport.
The 5km cycle route is designed for the young ones and the not so fit, and all routes have been changed to incorporate a floating bridge over the pond next to the clubhouse.
This is an interesting and exciting finish, although the un-brave can take the chicken run instead.
Vulintaba’s MTB Series offers total prize money of R17 600 to be divided evenly across the categories, with the third and fourth stages to take place on May 3 and June 1 this year.
Serious riders will also compete for the title of the King and Queen of Vulintaba Mountain Biking Series Award.
Those who find themselves up to the challenge can follow the series’s leader board on Facebook.
For the health conscious, the Vulintaba MTB Series is linked to the Discovery outdoor events, where cyclists can claim Vitality points in return for completing each event.
A challenge has also been extended to schools in the region to participate in the series.
Whether you are a serious cyclist, just a fun rider or a spectator, organisers would like to entertain them for the day, as the series is not one to be missed.
Pre entries can be made until March 28 (a day before the event) at Triathlon Cycles.
Race registrations can only be made on Friday between 5pm and 7pm at Triathlon Cycles or on March 29 (race day) at Vulintaba Country Estate between 6am and 7.15am.
