ONE OF OUR outstanding swimmers at the Tuks Swimming Club, Jacques van Wyk, has been earmarked to achieve the highest levels in the world’s swimming arenas. Not only is he achieving times of international standard in the pool, he was also ranked first and second in the 50; 100 and 200m freestyle in short course and a finalist in long course in South Africa. This talented young swimmer has all the potential needed to qualify for the Rio De Janeiro Olympic Games in 2016, but in order to achieve this goal, Jacques should attend three international swimming camps per year and two series of competitions per year. This is the minimum requirement as set by the South African Swimming Federation for South African swimmers who wish to compete internationally. Naturally, this comes as a huge financial burden and Jacques is in need of financial assistance or sponsorships in order to achieve this goal. Anyone who wishes to assist financially can contact Igor Omeltchenko on 082 742 7032 or igor.omelt@gmail.com
