SPORT: Bowlers meat the requirements
A number of Newcastle teams travelled to Ladysmith last Sunday, to play in a fun sponsored Trips competition hosted by Klipbank Bowling Club.
The recent club monthly meat competition, played on the third Saturday of each month, was won by Joan Schoon, Marius Bouwer Senior, Colin Brodrick and Trevor Moore.
A number of Newcastle teams travelled to Ladysmith last Sunday, to play in a fun sponsored Trips competition hosted by Klipbank Bowling Club.
Taking the honours by winning the competition was the Newcastle family team of Stephen and Samantha Shaw and their son Aspen, who skipped the team.
In second place was Kees Hillanor, Clyde Newton and Price Tarr (Klipbank), followed by Peter Scott, Trevor Wood and Jimmy Nel (Bergville) in third place.
The annual KwaZulu-Natal Country Bowls (KZNCB) Presidents Tournament takes place at Klipbank Bowling Club this weekend, where the preliminary teams selected for next year’s Inter Districts will compete against each other before the announcement of the final teams, and those selected for the Preliminary Masters and Masters competitions.
Players who wish to enter into the District Senior and Open Singles competitions must enter their names on the lists on the club noticeboards.
The popular FedAuto Spring Business League gets underway next week with a full complement of 42 teams participating.
