PREVIEW: Glenn Foley rides for those who can’t
“Watching people have fun and the sense of achievement on people’s faces at the end was simply the best feeling. Experiencing the generosity of people out there was just as amazing.”
When it comes to raising funds for charity, Glenn Foley has his own perception of how things are to be done.
For the past 14 years, Foley has arranged the annual Quads 4 Quads Rally, which sees hundreds of bikers enduring heavy weather conditions and 1 000 kilometres of nothing but dirt roads, all in the name of charity.
Quads 4 Quads is a uniquely South African adventure and the biggest off-road ride rally of its kind in the world.
Its main aim is to raise funds for The QuadPara Association of South Africa (QASA).
“You ride roughly 1 000 kilometres through dirt all the way from Durban to Johannesburg all for the QASA cause. It is lekker fun with lots of interesting people.”
During this three day adventure, Newcastillians also got to experience the thunderous roar of hundreds of off-road bikes arriving, as they set up overnight camps at Majuba Lodge.
“Majuba Lodge is a central point for us, with great facilities where we can get together and have fun. The people in the Newcastle area have become friends and really help us with just about everything for the duration of our stay there.”
