Annual Charlestown Net-Soccer Tournament a success
The annual Charlestown Net-Soccer Tournament came to a thrilling conclusion on December 27 after three days of entertaining netball and soccer.

The tournament was organised by the Amajuba District Municipality and the Department of Sports, Arts, and Culture.
Held from December 25-27, the event has become a beacon of hope for youth in the Amajuba District, offering a constructive and engaging alternative to deter the youth from substance abuse and social unrest, especially during the festive season.
As the final day kicked off, spectators were treated to some intense action on both the soccer field and netball court. In an exciting football final, Calies FC triumphed with a 3-1 victory over Charlestown FC, while on the netball court, the Go Getters from Utrecht dominated the Ladies Fire of Charlestown with a commanding 58-8 victory.
The victorious netball team walked away with gold medals and a trophy, while Ladies Fire earned silver medals. Charlestown FC took home the bronze.
In the soccer competition, Calies FC received a full soccer kit, a trophy, and gold medals, with Charlestown FC securing silver and B9356 claiming the bronze.
The awards ceremony, which brought the tournament to a close, was a highlight of the day, with Acting Mayor T. Mthembu handing out prizes to the winning teams.
