Mthashana campuses showcase talent at annual sports tournament

Students competed in soccer, netball, and volleyball during the college’s spirited Inter-Campus Ball Games.

Mthashana College students from Nongoma, Gqikazi, Nquthu, Vryheid and Emandleni campuses took part in the Inter-Campus Ball Games at the Cecil Emmett sports field on Saturday.

The college said that the main reason for the games was for students to interact with one another outside the lecture rooms – it helps the students to exercise, helps them with their performances academically, and physically when it comes to sport. ‘’We are aware that some students have skills and talents that they want to showcase, besides being in the lecture room. This gives those students an opportunity to play their favourite sport and excel in it. Whenever we host games like this, we have scouts that assist us in forming a strong team for the college; this team will then compete with other colleges. The scouts also get an opportunity to choose students they want to work with in their own teams,” said one of the Mtshashana representatives.

The students then participated in sporting codes like soccer, volleyball and netball, which were played by both males and females. Groups of students who were spectators made their way to the grounds, ready to support the campus of their choice.
