Local racers bring home the trophies
Tiaan Buys, 11 years old, brought home a first place trophy in the Rookies Division. Young Tiaan was up against much older competition, making his victory a triumph to remember.
On June 28, two local oval track racers travelled to Rustenburg, for the SA Regional Championship race meeting.

Johann de Jager also participated in the 1660 Division, and walked away with a third place finish.
Oval track racing neighbours, Majuba Racing in Volksrust also finished well, with brothers Andrè and Francois Greyvenstein taking on the challenge. Francois also brought home a second place trophy.
“We would like to congratulate our boys on their success,” said Annie van den Bergh. “They have kept Newcastle Oval Track’s racing name on high.”
The next regional leg will be on July 19 in Volksrust. The next Newcastle Oval Track Club race meet will be this weekend, on July 5. Gates will open at 2pm and vehicle inspections will start at 3pm. The flag will drop for the first race at 6pm.
“Please come and enjoy the racing with us,” invited Ms van den Bergh. “Remember to pack warm clothes; we can’t wait to see you there.”
