Bowlers ready for the business league

The bowls club has some of the best facilities. Anybody wanting to learn to play bowls can contact Nan Roos or Sylvia Malan. There are coaches in the club who will gladly assist.

The Harcourts Business League will start in mid-September. R500 per team – please put names up on the notice board, or contact Nan Roos on 082 446 9916, or Sylvia Malan on 081 046 8140.


The greens are still under maintenance, and a decision will be taken on Friday morning (all members will be notified), when a green will become available to play. The Natal Open Singles took place in Pietermaritzburg last weekend, and winners were Ladies’ Open champion Rienie Myklebust and Men’s Open champion Brendon Ainley, both from Maritzburg West BC. 


A group of bowlers traveled through to Ladysmith Country Club last Wednesday and had a most enjoyable afternoon of bowls. Any players wishing to play tabs in Newcastle this Wednesday, August 27, please contact Nan regarding traveling arrangements.

.A sponsored any two-bowl trips competition will be played on Saturday, August 13 – please enter your team on the notice board. The AGM was held on Friday evening, with one of the main issues being club competitions being played over a weekend. The majority of members voted to play over weekends, but the committee will look into this and make final decisions.
