The Cricket season is nearing its end.

This weekend, the 30 over Day-league’s semi-final will be played, and next week Tuesday and Thursday the City Cellular and Electronic Night league will be played.

With the final chance to qualify at their doorsteps during the game against Lennoxton last week, Underdogs played at 200 per cent.

Batting first, the Underdogs outfit made an impressive 143/eight after 25 overs. Lennoxton was once again let down by inconsistent bowling and silly errors in the field.

Being ruthless, Underdogs went on to keep the Lennoxton side down to a relatively good total of 96, securing their place in the semi-finals with a 47 run win.

On Saturday, the high-flying outfits of Underdogs and SAPS squared off at Arbor Park Stadium.

Continuing its good run of form, Underdogs made a total of 196 before being bowled all out by the SAPS attack.

Coming to the crease was a daunting prospect for the SAPS batsmen with a large run chase hanging above them.

Their batting order began slowly, but under the guidance of captain, Imraan Ghafoor, who scored a game-changing 75 run innings, the SAPS side was able to clinch a four wicket victory.

At Paradise A Grounds, Phoenix determined to win back some pride and trounced Lennoxton.

Lennoxton was made to bat first, but was bowled all out within 19 overs for a paltry total of 91 runs.

It would seem that the Lennoxton side was overwhelmed by the determined might of Phoenix.

Nathan Ewart put on a brilliant partnership with Nicholas Francis to guide the team to victory. The two batsmen, who usually bat at the lower-end of the order, were tasked with opening the batting for their side to help them improve their batting form.

The play worked and the two batsmen slowly let the runs collect.

Eventually, Nathan Ewert lost his wicket, but was replaced by the powerhouse of a batsman Nico Jan.

Smashing a quick 25 runs Nico Jan pushed Phoenix to a 9 wicket victory.

On Sunday, a 50-over game was played between the Amajuba President’s 11 and Boys Town Legends of Madadeni.

Batting first, Boys Town were subject to a real drumming from the more experienced President’s 11, as they were bowled out for a total of just 40 runs.

Mohammed Bhula bowled an excellent innings for the Amajuba side with his final figures being; six overs bowled, four wickets taken and conceding only 15 runs.

The Boys Town team proved to be much better bowling and fielding, as they took five wickets before the President’s 11 made the target.

Bowler Diba managed an impressive bowling innings of: Six overs, three wickets, and conceding 14 runs.
