The best medicine at Ladysmith Pharmacy Golf Day
For some, there was little or no effect from these stimulants and they were left to wander and hack from fairway to rough, squandering whatever energy they had

The Ladysmith and Alpha Pharmacy Golf Day was held on Saturday and the golfers were warmly welcomed by Kim, who (as always) was “chirping” and smiling as she handed out vitamin and energy drinks at the first tee box.
These drinks must have done wonders for some of the golfers, judging by the scores returned for the day. As energy levels sagged, Dolf and his team supplied a halfway snack to ensure that the levels of competitiveness, as well as concentration, were maintained.
For some, there was little or no effect from these stimulants and they were left to wander and hack from fairway to rough, squandering whatever energy they had.
The most “energized” of these golfers were Yastheel Ramdin and Segi Pillay who took the honours on a count-out from Byron Sirchia and Philip Boardman, with both finishing on 45 points. It will be a day to remember for Yastheel. With the energy juices coursing through his body, he hit the perfect shot on the 8th hole to record his first-ever hole-in-one. Well done and may you have many more!
Third spot was also won on a count-out by Nora Simpson and Murray Hume from Gerald Boardman and Neal Singh on 43 points.
‘Nearest the pin’ prizes were won by Patrick Mbatha on the 3rd, Yastheel on the 8th, Murray Hume on the 11th and Cassidy Hoffman on the 12th (who missed a hole-in-one by centimetres).
There were five two-club winners and we’re happy to report that all the ‘nearest the pin’ winners also shared in the two-club payout.
This weekend sees the ‘Captain – Vice-Captain Betterball Challenge’ taking place and the selection of teams will be done in the bar at 5.30pm / 6pm on Friday night.
This is a hotly-contested affair, so get your names down to play early and come down to the club for a bit of fun and witness the draw. February 13 will be the Valentine’s Day competition and will be played as a Four-Ball Alliance with scrambled drives. This is a great fun day for all to play in, as well as a good way to spend a couple of hours with your Valentine, wandering around the course in search of golf balls and sweetly offering each other terms of endearment and encouragement.
Well done again to all the winners on the weekend and a huge thanks to Dolf and his team at Ladysmith Pharmacy for hosting yet another great day which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Should you wish to sponsor a golf day, please contact Wayne Bentley or Steve Dixon who will be able to assist you.
