Anglers reel in good results

The VME League 5 was held on February 21 at Richgate Park.
The Breakwaters team wanting to secure victory clearly expressed their intent by fielding a strong contingent. Perseverance and consistent performance paid dividends as the team notched 93 points, while their sister team, Stillwaters (43 points) caused a major upset by beating the much fancied Challengers (38 points) teams. The log standing sees Breakwaters in poll position, heading the league table on 28 points; followed by Challengers on 20 points and Stillwaters on 12 points.
The “Angler of Day” was Shane Mangaroo of Breakwaters who notched 14 points, receiving the “orange” cap; R200 and an outright trophy. Kaveer Singh of Breakwaters retained the “purple” cap and he leads the pack with 103 points; followed by Shane Mangaroo (75 points) and Eksaan Mia on 63 points.
The top five anglers for Breakwaters/Stillwaters were Shane Mangaroo (14 points); Anil Boodhoo (10 points); Kidd Rampersadh (9 points); Kaveer Singh (9 points) and Suvyn Budhoo (8 points). The title contenders of the Angling Professional League are Terrence Chetty (heaviest scaled fish – 3,650kg caught in League 5 and heaviest non scaled fish – 9,005kg caught during Knock Out Round 1); Ethan Burger (rare specie –kurper of 625g); Kameshin Govender (Junior Angler of Year – 20 points); Tasha Boodhoo (Lady Angler of Year – 4 points); Dan Govender (Senior Angler of Year – 61 points) and Kaveer Singh (Angler of the Year – 103 points).
The title contenders for Breakwaters/Stillwaters are Terrence Chetty (heaviest scaled fish – 3,650kg caught in League 5 and heaviest non scaled fish – 9,005kg caught during Knock Out Round 1);Vicky Bhooli (heaviest Scaly – 850g – R2 of C of C); Uthveer Buduram (heaviest eel – 1,750kg – L3); Ethan Burger (rare specie – kurper of 625g – R2 of C of C and Junior Angler of Year on 18 points); Kaveer and Ashvir Singh (KO Doubles Champions); Monty Slabbert (highest point scorer – 38 points in Round One of KO and Knock Out Champion); Kaveer Singh (most fish caught – 46 fish, league champion – 71 points and Angler of Year on 111 points); Ossie Oosthuizen (Champion of Champion); Tasha Boodhoo (Lady Angler of Year on 4 points); and Kidd Rampersadh (Senior Angler of Year on 29 points).
The next fixture of the APL is the VME League on April 6 and 10 at Sandford.
