Paint bullets fly to keep a VIP safe

The re-enactment was based on a real-life event

The Ladysmith Paintball team held an event at ‘The Alamo’ last Saturday called ‘VIP Escort’.

The re-enactment was based on a real-life event.

This happened in Mogadishu, Somalia, where a VIP was involved in an incident in which his motorcade was attacked on the street by rebels.

His bodyguards were then tasked with the extremely important mission of getting him to a safe building nearby where they could re-group and work on an escape plan which meant keeping the VIP alive.

In the paintball match, military tactics came to the fore as the players crept around the makeshift battle arena, using every wall and barrier as a protective shield or ambush point to outmanoeuvre the enemy and ensure that their VIP would not be captured by their opponents.

The event saw both teams using smoke grenades to mask their location to give them some cover in an attempt not to be hit by stinging paint bullets.
