Local doctor leads by example at time trials
Lani dominated the 2km walk and broke her PB.
Ladies 2km walk: first, Lani van der Mescht 19m18s (PB); second, Mpume Ndaba 21m53s; third: Luzanne van der Mescht and Maryna Pieters 21m51s; fourth: Bettie Wolfaardt 23m16s and Bets van der Mescht 25m25s.
Junior girls 2km run: first: Tando 17m40s (PB) and second: Nomcebo 25m03s.
Ladies 3km walk: Martie Ferriera and Karla van Eeden dead heated for first with 27m01s.
Ladies 3km walk/jog: first, Vasanthee Naicker 21m05s (PB). Ladies 4km run: first, Thobeka Shezi 20m27s; second, Jayrushka Massallia 22m32s (PB); third, Tandeka Mdlalose 23m17s; fourth, Amos Khoza 24m20s; fifth, Thola Ntombela 28m13s; sixth, Kholiwe Buthelezi 28m55s and seventh, Joyce 30m31s.
Ladies 8km run: first, Nicky Williams 37m17s.
Junior boys 2km run: first, Siya 21m10s.
Mens 3km run: first, Ivan Naidoo 17m07s.
Mens 4km run: first, Sakile Masondo 20m29s.
Mens 8km run: first Thokozani Phungula 28m30s; second, Bongani Sabelo 29m16s; third, Lindani Sangweni 30m30s; fourth, dead heat Bongani Zwani and Joe Khumalo 32m23s; fifth, Petrus Mavuso 32m27s; sixth, Sanele 33m02s; seventh, Dr Shane Hilliar 35m01s; eighth, Veli Nkosi 36m04s; ninth, Khetha Nchunu 36m06s; tenth, Clement Nelson 39m08s; eleventh, Zwelihle Duma, 39m11s and twelveth, Reggie Nkosi, 41m45s.
Lani dominated the 2km walk and broke her PB. Tando smashed her PB in the junior girls 2km event. Vasanthee impressively broke her time once more in the 3km walk/jog event. Thobeka Shezi ran a great race to win the ladies 4km run event. Nicky “The Flying Williams” ran a phenomenal time in the 8km ladies event. In the mens’ 8km run event, Thokozani and Sabelo kept fighting it out for first place and “Mr T” got his revenge by beating Sabelo. Dr Hilliar also ran an impressive time in the 8km event.
