The ever-popular FedAuto Summer Business League came to an end last week, with the finals between the two sections being played on Thursday evening.

The ever-popular FedAuto Summer Business League came to an end last week, with the finals between the two sections being played on Thursday evening.
After some exciting bowls, the top five places went to: first – BAT Services, second – Putt Putts, third – Eschem, fourth – Hope High and fifth – Jockey Club.
Propping up the log and earning the coveted last place, after a thoroughly enjoyable tournament was the Bipolar Rollers team, and earning the prize for the best spirit was team Gutter Gang.
Newcastle Bowling Club (NBC) wishes to thank FedAuto for its continued support, and all participating businesses for entering and making this event one of the top events of the year for the club.
The club monthly chicken competition played recently, was won by Koen Pretorius, Piet Reyneke and Trevor Douthwaite.
The KwaZulu-Natal District teams will be playing in the annual South African Inter-District tournaments, starting on Monday.
The Open A teams will play in the East Rand, the B teams in Port Elizabeth and the Senior teams in Johannesburg.
Nine Newcastle bowlers have been selected for the various teams – all are wished good bowling, and will hopefully return with a medal or two.
NBC is also represented at the under-19 and under-25 Inter-Districts, currently being held in Bloemfontein, and results will follow shortly.
