Golf competitions played over Easter weekend

Well done to all the winners over the weekend and we look forward to seeing you at the club in the weeks to come, whether you are playing or just socialising

The golf section organised two competitions over the long weekend, with Friday being an “individual, arrive and play” affair. A few of the regular players teed off and had the course practically to themselves, with the odd visitors playing among them.

This did not, however, stop Chris Nel, who had a superb round and managed to win the competition with a very good 40 points, followed closely by Corné Stevens in second place.  The two-club kitty went to Andrew Bouwer, who had the only one.

The monthly ‘100 Club’ draw took place later on that evening and the first number out of the barrel was Marge Gardner, who walked away with the grand prize. Neil Mackenzie’s number followed to take the consolation prize.

The Country Collections Easter Competition was played on Saturday and with many players away, the relatively small field took to the course with a hop in their step. The format was a ‘2 in 1’ competition, with the players playing as individuals and the second part being a better-ball with a selected partner who was playing in a different four-ball. The reasoning behind this is that the players don’t have all their eggs in one basket and that whoever collects the most points wins.

The player who hopped the straightest and did not visit the country as much as the other players was Andrea Sirchia, who ended up winning and collecting the first spot on 41 points. Second and third places went to Jan Pretorius and Noel Hoffman respectively. ‘Nearest the pin’ winners on the 11th and 12th were Patrick Pieterse and Patrick Pieterse.  There were only two two-club winners and they were Patrick Pieterse and Jan Pretorius. Noel Hoffman and Gia Bozza took home the better-ball prize.

The course is playing very well (ask all the winners) and thanks must go to the ground-keeping staff responsible for all the hard work and effort they put in to enable us to be able to play our golf. We would like to take a moment to thank all the sponsors not just for this weekend but for throughout the year who have generously donated and taken the opportunity to brand their business’s and products by hosting a golf day at our club.

Well done to all the winners over the weekend and we look forward to seeing you at the club in the weeks to come, whether you are playing or just socialising.
