After an absence of nearly three years in first division rugby competition, Sentraal nearly turned the tables on Vryheid, in a hard fought battle, played at home where the result was in the balance till the last minute.

An earlier clash between the two clubs’ second sides was also a tight affair that ended in a 19-19 draw.
For Sentraal tries were scored by Simon Manyathi, Bongani Mhlambo and JD van Zyl, with veteran, Joff Davies, converting two.
Sentraal’s first steam was hard done by most of the game but gave their all right to the end.

This was a game that Sentraal should have won if all the ifs could be set aside but in the end it was not to be.
For Sentraal, the lock combination of Waldo Herbst and Johann Bacher were outstanding.
Players of the games were: Second team: backs, Chris Engelbrecht and, forwards, JD van Zyl. First team, backs, Tiaan du Plooy and, forwards, Nosh Mbanjwa.

This Saturday, April 9, Sentraal travel to Newcastle to take on the Mighty Buffalo’s and Saturday, April 16, there is a home fixture from 2 pm at the DHS grounds against Piet Retief.
