Dundee golfers overwhelm Ladysmith in league fixture

On Sunday the Dundee Country Club hosted the NKZN Men’s golf ‘B’ league fixtures which saw the Dundee ‘B2’ team recording their third victory of the season.
Playing against the top of the table and the unbeaten Ladysmith team, the local golfers made good use of home course advantage to overcome their opponents 11 – 7.
In the morning foursomes, Leon Wellman and Carl Donaldson, won their match 4/3 while Pierre Booysen and Kevin Donaldson sneaked home 2/1 to give the Dundee team four points ahead of the singles matches which were to follow.
After the lunch break, Carl Donaldson, Pierre Booysen and Kevin Donaldson won their matches with John Zulu finishing all square in his match to see the Dundee team home by four points, winning 11 – 7.
The ‘B1’ team had a good start to their game against Kilbarchan in the morning foursomes with the pairings of Clement Chawanda and Mandla Mthethwa as well as Clement Sithole and Cyril Mkhwanazi winning their matches while Walter Du Plessis and Wynand Ackerman ended their match all square to give the Dundee team a 5-1 lead at lunch time.

On Saturday the uShaka Sports Development held a charity golf day in the form of a 4BBBS competition, and winning the day on 47 points was the pairing of Clement Chawanda and Mandla Mthethwa with Cameron Fogg and his partner, Brett Meyer, finishing in second place on 45 points.
The novelty prize for nearest the pin on hole no. 8 went to C Mkhwananzi. M Ackerman won the prize on hole no.16. Kallie Roets won the prize for the men’s longest drive, whileRonel Purchase picked up the ladies prize.
This weekend’s fixtures; Friday 10 Hole Meat Competition and on Saturday the Club Competition will be an I.P.S. format.
