The Angling Professional League (APL) hosted the VME League 3 at Richgate Park on October 16
Stillwaters Angling Club topped the fishing league, beating the seasoned team.
Stillwaters scored an impressive 45 points, followed by the Ladysmith Angling Club with 43 points. Breakwaters placed third scoring 35 points and the Challengers and Dannhauser Angling Club tied with 14 points.
In the current league log, Breakwaters has 26 points, Stillwaters and the Ladysmith Angling Club 20 each, Challengers 17 and Dannhauser Angling Club five points.
The top angler of the day was Sikander Amod from Stillwaters, who scored 15 points, earning the orange cap, a trophy and R200. He caught a barbel of 6,9kg.
The leading angler was Yusheer Govender from the Ladysmith Angling Club with 16 points, who beat Monty Slabbert, also on 16 points, for having caught more fish.
The title holders for the Angling Professional League include Shane Mangaroo for the heaviest scaled fish of 3.465kg and Sikander Amod for the heaviest non-scaled fish of 6.9kg.
Suvyn Budhoo holds the title for most rare species, which was a bass of 1.090kg.
Veruschka Boodhoo is Lady Angler of Year, Dan Govender is Senior Angler of the Year and Yusheer Govender holds the title of Angler of the Year.
The top five anglers for Breakwaters and Stillwaters were Sikander Amod with 15 points, Monty Slabbert on 13 points, Oosie Oosthuizen and Mervin Reddy, both on six points, followed by Wayne Oosthuizen on five points.
The title contenders for Breakwater and Stillwaters include Vernon Naidoo for the heaviest scaled fish of 3.375kg.
Sikander Amod competed for the heaviest non-scaled fish of 6.9kg and SH Yisa was a contender for the heaviest scaly at 525g.
Fanie Els contended for heaviest eel at 2.270kg, most fish caught and Champion of Champion.
Kidd Rampersadh was a nominee for Senior Angler of the Year with 8 points and Wayne Oosthuizen for Angler of the Year with 18 points.
Breakwaters will hold its annual awards function, celebrating 25 years in existence on November 5, at the Style and Grace Wedding Venue and Conference Centre.
The event promises to be a night to remember for both members and patrons as the organisers are pulling out all the stops in preparation for this spectacular event.
