Golfer Cyril enjoys comfortable league victories
. In the morning foursomes, Cyril and his partner, Clement Sithole, thrashed their opposition 9/8 and then in the afternoon singles, Cyril comfortably won his game 6/5 to help his team to draw 6-6 with Kilbarchan “2”.
This past Sunday saw the Dundee Country Club’s both “A” and “B” league teams in action, and although none of the teams was able to record a victory, the day belonged to “B1” team member, Cyril Mkhwanazi. In the morning foursomes, Cyril and his partner, Clement Sithole, thrashed their opposition 9/8 and then in the afternoon singles, Cyril comfortably won his game 6/5 to help his team to draw 6-6 with Kilbarchan “2”.
The “A” team were in action for the first time this season, and they had team captain Henk Booysen and Sifiso Kunene to thank for their individual performances to earn a 6-6 draw away to a strong Newcastle team. Henk had to shoot three under par 69 to overcome local favourite Neil Swanepoel 2/1.
The “B2” team, coming off a comfortable 12-0 victory in their last game, suffered a huge blow when almost losing by the same margin on Sunday to log leaders Newcastle as only Wynand Ackerman managed to record a victory in his singles match to see the Dundee team losing 2-10.
Saturday’s 4 BBBS club competition was won by two visitors from Newcastle G.C., L Rothman and L Oosthuizen who scored 49 points to beat our local brothers, Clement and Melusi Sithole who finished second with 46 points after winning the count out over R Catlett and his partner C Munro.
Three players had a share of the 2 Club prize money and they were Debbie Catlett, Brian Du Toit and Lionel Shawe.
This coming Saturday sees the Annual Rotary Charity Golf Day, a 4 BBBS event with all proceeds going to Eventide Homes, and besides the great prizes on offer each player will also enjoy a spit-braai supper, players are requested to contact The Pro Shop on 034 218 1000 to make their booking.
