Vryheid Park City FC take the Duze Cup

PARK City were crowned Champions of the Duze Cup Tournament this past Sunday at the Hlobane Stadium.

The Tournament stake was R10000 and it consisted of 45 Teams of which 32 were from the Promotional League and 13 were SAB League Teams around Abaqulusi jurisdictions.

Park City FC went home with R4000 after winning 1st prize, while the runner’s-up left with R3000, R2000 went to the team third in line and R1000 went to the fourth.

Park City won the Final, 3-2 against Universe FC (from eMondlo), who are currently the Champions of 2016-17 AbaQulusi SAB Sub-Region and 201-17 Zululand SAB Region.

Park City made it to the finals after winning 3-2 against Hlobane Hotspurs in the semi-finals. Universe FC beat Louwsburg Aces in the penalties after a 0-0 draw in their match.

Louwsburg Aces then took third place as they beat Hlobane Hotspurs with one goal to zero (1-0).

Universe FC came to the final as favourites since they had entered with a 100% winning record against Park City FC over two years and they knocked out Park City with 3-0 on Fell’s Cup at eMondlo last week.

Park City managed to be fifth on the Log Table regardless of the challenge of not having a pitch since their home, Cecil Emmett Soccer Field, has been under construction since May last year.

They were assisted by Vryheid Rugby Club who offered them the rugby stadium for their home games, provided the rugby teams would not be using the pitch on the same day.

Park City is currently looking for sponsors and under 21 players to join them for the upcoming 2017-18 season and the registration is closing in two weeks time.
