Men’s and ladies pairs bowls winners finalised

On Friday, December 1, the Club will be having its annual prize-giving and year-end function at the club.

This last weekend saw the playing of the last bowls club competition of the year: the Men’s and Ladies Club Pairs. Thanks to Frans Joubert and Brokkies for making themselves available at the last minute to fill in the men’s section.
A total of 12 teams participated; eight men’s teams and four madies teams. Congratulations to the winners of the ladies section: Hannelie Arndt and Essie Slabbert, with Jo-Ann Melville and Taryn Bierbaum the runners-up.
Greg Conolly and Des Johnson too the honours in the men’s section, with Carl Arndt and Dougie Slabbert the runners-up.
Once again the weather did not co-operate for the Kirkland Auctioneers Bowls Business League with the rounds being postponed yet again due to welcome rains. The weather is not looking much better for tomorrow (Thursday) but Greg would have been in contact with the various “skips” to make arrangements to possibly playing tonight.
On Friday, December 1, the Club will be having its annual prize-giving and year-end function at the club.
An invitation is extended to all members to attend this function where we can all sit back and relax and celebrate the accolades our fellow bowlers have achieved throughout the year. Please check the WhatsApp group for the invitation and RSVP to Greg.
On Saturday, December 16, the club will be hosting a Bowls Toy Run in aid of the children in need in our town particularly the children in the hospital and the crisis centre.
All are welcome.
Please bring along R20 as well as a toy and the club will make sure that the toys will be distributed just in time for Christmas.
The club would like to wish Greg and Des all the best as they take part in the prelim masters in Ladysmith this weekend. Good bowling guys and safe travels.
Watch this space next week for news on the junior bowlers who will be taking part in a tournament in Bloemfontein in April next year.
